Because of insufficient water, canoe journeys on the Upper Main are momentarily prohibited at certain spots. The persistent drought has caused the water level in Kemmern, located within the Bamberg district, to drop under the prescribed minimum of 2.20 meters, as the Franken River Paradise association reported on Tuesday in Bamberg. As a consequence, the canoe rental service between Hausen in the Lichtenfels district and Hallstadt near Bamberg has been momentarily halted.

The association, situated at the Bamberg district office, likewise advises all stand-up paddle boarders, individual canoeists, and inflatable boat owners to abstain from utilizing this stretch for the time being.

For fish and various water creatures, reduced water levels during summer are extremely hazardous as a result of the high temperatures, which subsequently lead to less oxygen in the water.

The Bamberg district, known for its Franken River Paradise, is currently affected by the ongoing drought, severely impacting places like Kemmern in Bamberg. Due to this, canoe trips in Bavaria's Upper Main are temporarily restricted at certain points, as reported by the association.
