- Reduced regional charges for numerous motorists in Bavaria
Drivers in Kronach boast the best insurance claims record in Bavaria, while those in Augsburg are responsible for the most damage. The General Association of German Insurers (GDV) has reevaluated this in all registration districts and reassigned them for motor vehicle insurance. Over 1.7 million drivers in Bavaria can anticipate a more advantageous rating in liability insurance.
In the nationwide standings, Bavaria has made substantial progress: "Twenty-four districts and about a quarter of all drivers have received a more favorable classification," says Anja Käfer-Rohrbach, deputy CEO of the GDV. Only eight districts and 300,000 drivers unfortunately move into higher and therefore more expensive regional classes.
Careful drivers reside in Kronach, Kulmbach, Lichtenfels, Coburg-Land, Tirschenreuth, Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Dingolfing-Landau, and Main-Spessart: They belong to the favorable regional class 3. On the contrary, drivers in Kempten and the three major cities of Munich, Nuremberg, and Augsburg have to insure themselves at the more expensive rates of regional class 11. It also tends to have accidents with vehicles registered in Schweinfurt, Bayreuth, Hof, Fürth, Schwabach, Amberg, Passau, Ingolstadt, and Kaufbeuren: They are placed in regional class 10.
Higher classes in comprehensive insurance
Unlike liability insurance, many registration districts in Bavaria are promoted in comprehensive insurance. This is typically due to regional hailstorms that caused extensive damage to cars last year. Among the 6.3 million comprehensively insured, 1.4 million are assigned to higher regional classes, but only 100,000 will receive better ratings in the future. According to the GDV, Garmisch-Partenkirchen ranks highest above the national average for full comprehensive claims, and Ostallgäu for partial comprehensive claims. Insurance providers can utilize the regional statistics for new contracts right away and for existing contracts from the upcoming insurance year.
Despite the overall improvement in Bavaria, some districts and drivers have faced the unfortunate consequence of moving into higher and consequently more expensive regional classes due to accidental damage, such as those in Kempten and the major cities of Munich, Nuremberg, and Augsburg. In the context of comprehensive insurance, many registration districts in Bavaria have been promoted, often due to accidental damage from events like regional hailstorms, leading to higher regional classes for 1.4 million drivers.
