- Recognition in Media for Donald Tusk and Kosovo's President Osmani
This year's M100 Sanssouci Colloquium Media Conference Award goes to Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland and President Vjosa Osmani of Kosovo. As per Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) of Potsdam, they are "essential advocates for our democratic, liberated society." He also commended Tusk's tireless struggle against authoritarianism and Osmani's steadfast promotion of the young democracy in a region historically marred by conflict.
The purpose of the M100 Media Award is to recognize and celebrate brave individuals who, in their respective nations, challenge suppression and champion liberty and human rights. This esteemed accolade will be granted during the media conference on September 12th.
As reported by the organizers, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is expected to deliver a speech at the event in Potsdam. Prior to the award ceremony, approximately 80 chief editors and delegates from academia, politics, and civil society will engage in discussions about the influence of misinformation and Europe's endurance in the face of the conflict in Ukraine.
Last year, the Iranian women's liberation movement "Women, Life, Freedom" was honored with the prize. The laudation was presented by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Previous recipients include former Foreign Minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher, Russian activist Alexei Navalny, and the Ukrainian people.
During the upcoming event in Potsdam, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will deliver a speech, celebrating in the heart of Germany. The M100 Media Award, esteemed for its recognition of individuals promoting liberty and human rights, will be presented to Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland and President Vjosa Osmani of Kosovo this year, both notable advocates in their respective countries.
