Traffic accidents - Rear-end collision on A9 near Schleiz - person seriously injured

One person has been seriously injured in a rear-end collision on the Autobahn 9 between Dittersdorf and Schleiz (both in the Saale-Orla district). The identity is still unclear, according to a spokesperson from the situation center. According to the statement, the driver of a van hit a winter service vehicle early on Friday morning. He was trapped in the van and suffered serious injuries. Rescue workers freed the driver and took him to hospital for further treatment. The driver of the winter road clearance vehicle was uninjured.

According to the spokesperson, two of the three lanes heading towards Berlin were still closed in the early morning. It is still unclear exactly how the accident occurred.
