Rear-end collision involving four trucks: two seriously injured
Two drivers were seriously injured in a rear-end collision involving four trucks on the Autobahn 3 near Biebelried (Kitzingen district). Rescue workers took them to hospital after the accident on Wednesday, according to a police statement. A truck had collided with an articulated lorry that had stopped for traffic reasons. Two trucks that had also come to a stop earlier were also damaged by the collision.
The highway was closed for several hours. According to the police, the recovery of the damaged trucks was very time-consuming because, among other things, a tanker was transporting hazardous goods.
The accident led to significant traffic disruptions, causing delays for numerous commuters. Subsequently, officials reported multiple minor underfront collisions as drivers attempted to navigate the congested roadways.
