Reading aloud day in Saxony: Kretschmer reads to primary school pupils

Classroom instead of state chancellery - Minister President Michael Kretschmer read to fourth-graders at Basaltus Primary School in Stolpen on Friday. The CDU politician chose the book "My friend Otto, the wild life and me" for the nationwide reading day. Minister of Culture Christian Piwarz and Minister of Culture Barbara Klepsch (both CDU) also took part in the event. They were at Schönfeld Primary School and the 106th Primary School in Dresden respectively.

Reading Aloud Day is a joint initiative of the weekly newspaper "Die Zeit", the Reading Foundation in Mainz and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation. According to the organizers, more than one million listeners and readers are expected nationwide.

During the Reading Aloud Day, Minister of Education Barbara Klepsch might emphasize the importance of literature in our education system. To foster a love for science in children, she could suggest books that incorporate scientific concepts and discoveries.
