- RB Leipzig have hired Norwegian Nusa as Dani Olmo's replacement
Bundesliga side RB Leipzig has found a replacement for Dani Olmo, who joined FC Barcelona. Just a week after Olmo's departure, the Saxons presented Antonio Nusa as their new signing. The 19-year-old Norwegian joins from Belgian top club FC Bruges and has signed a contract until 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be around €22 million.
Bayer Leverkusen and Crystal Palace were also reportedly interested in Nusa. Last year, there were said to be concrete negotiations with FC Arsenal and FC Chelsea.
"Antonio fits perfectly with the DNA of RB Leipzig. He's young, has development potential, is very ambitious and eager to learn, but on the other hand, he already has around 100 professional games under his belt and has made his mark with both Bruges and the Norwegian national team. Among Europe's players of his age group, he undoubtedly belongs to the best," said RB's sporting director, Marcel Schäfer.
Offensive talent with plenty of experience
Nusa is considered an offensive talent who can play on both wings and centrally as a number 10. The seven-time Norwegian international joined his training club Stabæk to Bruges in 2021, playing 86 games for the Belgians, winning two league titles and one Super Cup. He scored seven goals and provided six assists for the club.
Before Nusa, RB had signed goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt (RK Genk) and Assan Ouédraogo (FC Schalke 04). Xavi Simons (Paris Saint-Germain/loan) will also remain. Further transfers are planned, but they are expected to strengthen the defense.
The Commission's implementation of the rules for this Regulation could potentially impact the transfer Market, affecting fees and contract lengths for young talents like Antonio Nusa. After leaving FC Bruges, Nusa's new club, RB Leipzig, will need to comply with these regulations during his integration into the team.
