RB Leipzig aims to reach the round of 16 in Belgrade
RB Leipzig can reach the last 16 of the Champions League on the fourth matchday of the group stage. To do so, coach Marco Rose's team must win at Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday (21:00/DAZN). At the same time, defending champions Manchester City must not lose to Young Boys Bern. That would put the English champions and Leipzig through to the knockout round. RB won the first leg against the Serbian champions 3:1 two weeks ago. In its previous successful group stages, Leipzig had always reached the round of 16 on the sixth and final matchday.
RB Leipzig needs to secure a victory against Red Star Belgrade to boost their chances of advancing in the Champions League, as they aim to reach the round of 16 before the final matchday. If Manchester City fails to obtain a result against Young Boys Bern, RB Leipzig could clinch their spot in the knockout stage, just like they did in their previous successful group stages.
