Second-tier league - Rapid Vienna welcomes back Hannover pro Louis Schaub.
Midfielder Louis Schaub is leaving 2. Bundesliga team Hannover 96 and going back to Austrian club Rapid Wien. This was announced by the club on Tuesday. In the capital of his home country, Schaub has signed a four-year contract lasting until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Hannover's sporting director, Marcus Mann, praised Schaub, saying, "He's always been fully committed during his time at 96 and never let us down, even in tough periods. He was also a pleasure to work with on a personal level." Schaub himself stated, "I've been honored to wear the 96 jersey."
Schaub first played professionally for Rapid Wien in August 2012 at age 17. He played for other teams like 1. FC Köln, FC Luzern in Switzerland, and Hamburger SV before joining Hannover in 2022. Last season, the 29-time Austrian national team member scored four goals and gave three assists in 30 league games for Hannover.
