Ramelow wants to draw attention to stalking with confused posts
Reichsflugscheibe, mRNA and hollow earth: Thuringia's Minister President Bodo Ramelow has caused controversial reactions with confused-looking posts on X. The Left Party politician wrote on Monday: "Attention, dear patriots, our planes are not spraying tonight, but the Thuringian Reichsflugscheibe is being deployed and has something for you: mRNA. Then you no longer need to vaccinate (...)". He also posted an airplane emoji and numerous syringes. A Reichsflugscheibe is a fictional flying object that plays a role in conspiracy stories, among other things.
On Tuesday, Ramelow wrote other similarly confused posts on X. For example: "Dear patriots, unfortunately no good news today either. Due to the rain, our Reichsflugscheibe can't spray again today. Then we'll fly a round to Hohlerde." By late Tuesday afternoon, there were more than 1,000 comments under his posts. More than 1600 users responded with a heart, others thought the posts were "underground".
The 67-year-old told the "Bild" newspaper, which wrote about Ramelow's posts on X: "I reacted with a satire to weeks of persistent stalking on X. I wanted to draw attention to a problem. I wanted to draw attention to a problem that doesn't just affect me, but many others too." If you're not stable, stalking like that can break you. But it doesn't affect your soul, says Ramelow.
- Despite the controversy surrounding his posts, Ramelow clarified that his intention was to bring attention to online stalking using satire and the topic of the Reichsflugscheibe, even suggesting it could be utilized for Internet-based propaganda.
- Recognizing the impact of cyberbullying, Ramelow expressed concern that such relentless stalking can negatively affect individuals, stressing the importance of addressing this issue not only in his situation but also for others who may be affected by it online.
