- Ramelow criticizes car maid for campaign
Two and a half weeks before the state election, Thuringia's Minister President and Left Party top candidate Bodo Ramelow criticized his former party colleague Sahra Wagenknecht for the BSW election campaign in Thuringia.
Wagenknecht is "talking everywhere about a political deal: The BSW in Saxony should once again elect Michael Kretschmer (CDU) as Minister President, and in return, the CDU should make Frau Wolf the Thuringian Minister President," Ramelow complained to the "Tagesspiegel". "So Frau Wagenknecht is already giving away the positions before the election." Ramelow said he read this "with astonishment".
Neck-and-neck race between CDU and BSW
According to a recent Insa poll commissioned by Funke Medien Thuringia, the BSW is ahead with 19 percent, followed by Ramelow's Left Party with 16 percent. BSW top candidate Katja Wolf is often mentioned by Wagenknecht as a possible Minister President if the BSW finishes ahead of the CDU. The gap between the Christian Democrats is only two percentage points, according to the Insa survey.
Ramelow questioned Wolf's decision-making power in the "Tagesspiegel". "If the BSW is ahead, we will see if Frau Wolf can decide - or if Frau Wagenknecht decides what Frau Wolf decides," said Ramelow. Both Wagenknecht and Wolf were once members of the Left Party.
Wagenknecht has recently made positions on the topic of war and peace a condition for a coalition on the state level with the BSW. The Thuringian BSW state party chairman Steffen Schuetz had also signaled that he would not sacrifice his stance on this issue. A new state parliament will be elected in Thuringia on September 1.
The Election to the Landtag in Thuringia is approaching on September 1, and Bodo Ramelow, the Minister President and Left Party's top candidate, expressed concern about Sahra Wagenknecht's political deal suggestions, which could potentially affect the positions in the state government.
Given the neck-and-neck race between the CDU and the BSW in Thuringia's upcoming Election to the Landtag, with Katja Wolf frequently mentioned as a potential Minister President for the BSW, Ramelow questioned Wolf's decision-making power, hinting at the potential influence of Wagenknecht in the party's decisions.
