Ramelow and Hoff before the committee of inquiry

Thuringia's Minister President Bodo Ramelow and State Chancellery Leader Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff (both Left Party) will give evidence to the state parliament's committee of inquiry into the state government's personnel policy this Monday. Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD) is also to be heard, the Left Party parliamentary group announced on Saturday. The questioning had been requested by the opposition CDU parliamentary group. The red-red-green government factions had expressly supported this, it was said.

The committee of inquiry, which began its work this summer, is to clarify possible misconduct in the personnel policy of the state government. The State Court of Auditors had accused the state government of systematic and serious breaches of rules on the recruitment of civil servants.

However, the committee's work is not limited to the era of red-red-green government responsibility, explained André Blechschmidt, parliamentary director of the Left Party parliamentary group and chairman of the committee. "We have a clear mandate to also shed light on the recruitment practices of the previous state government and contrast them with the situation since 2014."

According to Blechschmidt, the Left, SPD and Green parliamentary groups therefore also want to summon all heads of the State Chancellery since 2009 to testify before the committee. "Unfortunately, the CDU has so far shown little interest in subjecting the personnel policy of its own time in government to the same critical scrutiny as that of the red-red-green coalition," criticized the MP.

The Minister President Bodo Ramelow and State Chancellery Leader Benjamin-Immanuel Hoff will provide their testimonies to the Parliament's committee of inquiry about the state government's personnel policy in Thuringia. The committee, established by the Parliament, is investigating potential misconduct in the state government's recruitment of civil servants, as accused by the State Court of Auditors.
