Equine athletic competitions - Rain causes cancellation of Gallop in Iffezheim
Because of excessive rainfall, the final day of the Spring Gathering at the Iffezheim Racecourse has been called off. This decision was made following a review carried out after last night's rainfall. The organizers stated that the wellbeing of both horses and riders was no longer ensured. Eleven races had been arranged.
For security purposes, a committee comprising of the race authority, jockeys, trainers, the overseeing body, and organizers determined to scrap the events. "There are numerous spots with standing water on the track, making them hazardous," commented chief of race management Philipp Biermann.
