Rain and thunderstorms at the weekend in North Rhine-Westphalia
The weather in North Rhine-Westphalia will remain cloudy and rainy over the weekend. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there could be particularly heavy rain and storms again on Saturday and Sunday. On both days, there could also be short but strong thunderstorms with squalls from the late afternoon onwards. Gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour are possible on Saturday, especially in the Eifel and its northern edge as well as at higher altitudes, but the wind should gradually subside in the evening. The DWD is still expecting gusts of wind in the lowlands on Sunday afternoon.
As far as temperatures are concerned, it will remain mild. The DWD predicted highs of 10 to 12 degrees for Saturday and 11 to 13 degrees for Sunday and Monday. At the start of the coming week, it is expected to become cloudy again with showers and strong gusts in some areas, although these are expected to subside by Monday evening.
Despite the predicted mild temperatures, the German Weather Service (DWD) warns of potential thunderstorms in North Rhine-Westphalia over the weekend. The weather forecast indicates the possibility of heavy rain and powerful thunderstorms, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
