train traffic - Railways around Duisburg still closed
Rail traffic around the junction Duisburg is expected to resume with significant disruptions from Saturday afternoon after about two weeks. A spokesperson for Deutsche Bahn announced this late Friday evening.
The original goal of the railway was to lift the closure by Friday evening. However, the work is not yet completed, the spokesperson said. According to the current status, delays and partial cancellations are expected to continue until Saturday afternoon.
At the Duisburg Kaiserberg motorway interchange, a bridge on the A3 heading north, which crosses over eight railway tracks, is being renewed. Due to the closure of the tracks, many trains in the western Ruhr area are cancelled and replaced by buses, while long-distance ICE trains are widely detoured.
Despite the completed work on some parts, the full restoration of the damaged railway tracks at Duisburg Kaiserberg motorway interchange is yet to be accomplished. Effective Saturday afternoon, railway traffic around this junction may still encounter significant disruptions.
