train traffic - Railways around Duisburg remain closed
Rail traffic around the crucial junction of Duisburg remains unable to run on schedule. For nearly two weeks, tracks have been closed due to construction work at the Duisburg motorway interchange. The aim of Deutsche Bahn was to lift the closure by 9 pm, but a spokesperson stated late in the evening that the work is not yet completed. As of now, it is expected that delays and partial cancellations will continue until Saturday afternoon.
At the Duisburg Kaiserberg motorway interchange, a bridge on the A3 heading north is being renewed, which directly crosses over eight railway tracks. Due to the closure of the tracks, many trains in the western Ruhr area are cancelled and replaced by buses, while long-distance ICE trains are widely detoured.
