Railway workers are embarrassed by conditions

Passengers are sweating due to the air conditioning failure, toilets are locked, the selection in the onboard restaurant is dwindling, and the train is also late. The problems at Deutsche Bahn are not only affecting passengers but also their employees. This is according to an internal chat group report.

The dire situation at Deutsche Bahn is also affecting the morale of its staff. Internal chats from employees of the company show that many are angry and frustrated with the poor service the company is providing, according to the "Süddeutsche Zeitung". "What we're delivering here is unbeatable in terms of embarrassment," wrote a train attendant.

"Not a single day goes by here where something runs smoothly." The attendant reported that on his long-distance journey, there was no cooling, no deep-freezing, and no supplies in the onboard catering - a "tragedy". The staffing is also thin, ultimately driving away "the last remaining employees".

The SZ has reportedly seen numerous such posts in internal chat groups. The overall mood is very poor, especially in long-distance traffic. Common problems mentioned include too few staff, ICE trains with broken air conditioning, missing supplies for onboard catering, or poor internal communication. "I think it's getting worse every day, and we're always short-staffed on the trains," explained an employee.

Deutsche Bahn is particularly criticized for its worsening punctuality. This is mainly due to the dilapidated rail network, which Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing wants to address with a renovation offensive. However, according to the "SZ" report, the problems within the company seem to go beyond that. "Something needs to change urgently, not just on the outside, but also on the inside," wrote an employee.

The staff at Deutsche Bahn are equally affected by the issues, as they express their dissatisfaction with the rail transport service in internal chats. The poor condition of the trains, including broken air conditioning and insufficient supplies, is a recurring issue that affects both passengers and staff.
