Railroad - Rail traffic in Bavaria still severely restricted
Following the onset of winter, Munich Central Station is still only operating to a very limited extent. Deutsche Bahn(DB) expected trains to be very busy on Monday morning and advises passengers to postpone travel to and from Munich. Among other things, there were still no connections between the state capital and Innsbruck, Salzburg and Zurich. In addition, fewer long-distance trains were in operation.
For planned journeys on Monday, as was the case at the weekend, the train connection has been canceled. According to DB, tickets are therefore also valid on other days. In addition, it does not matter which route travelers take - only the destination must be the same.
Travelers within Munich must also continue to be prepared for restrictions. The streetcars were still at a standstill in the morning, as reported by DB. Initially, only lines 3 and 8 of the S-Bahn were running - and only in certain sections.
The heavy snowfall at the weekend had paralyzed rail traffic in large parts of southern Germany. Trees blocked tracks, icy overhead lines and snow-covered trains prevented journeys.
