Train traffic - Rail traffic around Duisburg still affected
Rail traffic around the crucial junction Duisburg is expected to resume with significant disruptions from Saturday afternoon after about two weeks. This was announced by a spokesperson for Deutsche Bahn.
The original goal of the railway was to complete the construction work by Friday evening, but the spokesperson said that this had not yet been achieved. There will still be detours in the direction of the north. According to current estimates, regular train traffic is expected to resume from Saturday afternoon.
At the Duisburg Kaiserberg motorway interchange, a bridge on the A3 heading north, which crosses over eight railway tracks, is being renewed. Due to the closure of the tracks, many trains in the western Ruhr region were cancelled and replaced by buses, while long-distance ICE trains were rerouted.
Notice
The bridge renovation at Duisberg Kaiserberg motorway interchange, affecting the A3 northbound, is a challenge for rail traffic in Germany. The delayed completion of the construction work has resulted in significant disruptions to train services, mainly in the northern direction, even after the expected resumption of traffic from Saturday afternoon.
