Stuttgart - Rail struggles with the consequences of bad weather

According to a spokesperson for the German Railways (Deutsche Bahn), the tracks between Engen and Singen (District Konstanz) will be reopened late in the afternoon on Thursday for single-track operation. Trains can then pass through this section again. However, due to construction work on the other track, only slow speeds can be maintained in this area. It is still unclear when the other side will be released. Previously, the SWR reported on this.

According to the spokesperson, this section has been closed since Wednesday morning because approximately 500 meters of tracks were flooded. Therefore, replacement buses are in operation between Engen and Singen. According to the German Railways, the RE2 between Karlsruhe and Konstanz and IC trains between Stuttgart and Zurich are affected by this.

The section between Ebersbach/Fils and Göppingen can only be traveled singly according to the German Railways. The RE5 between Stuttgart and Lindau is affected by this. The cause is once again flooded tracks, according to the spokesperson. In local traffic, delays can be expected. It is still unclear when the second track can be used again.

The disruption in the RE2 train service between Karlsruhe and Konstanz, as well as IC trains between Stuttgart and Zurich, is due to Constance-bound tracks being closed since Wednesday morning due to a storm-related flood near Engen. In Baden-Württemberg, a road closure is currently in effect in Stuttgart due to the ongoing railroad repairs. Efforts to reopen the other track and restore normal traffic speed are underway by German Railways.
