- Rail service disruption occurring close to Hamburg due to technical issues.
Due to a technical glitch at the control center in Hamburg-Harburg, there's chaos in both local and intercity transport. DB, Germany's railway service, posted an update on their site, stating they're putting in the necessary effort to fix the problem. A representative explained that they have to mend the command and safety machinery. The station in Harburg is operational, but trains are moving at a snail's pace, leading to hold-ups. Passengers are encouraged to verify their train status before departing.
DB also announced that ICE services between Hamburg and Berlin, Hamburg and Hannover, along with ICE and IC connections between Hamburg and Bremen are affected. Delays of up to 30 minutes are common, and certain Hannover-Hamburg connections have been axed entirely.
Metronom, another railway company, reported limitations on both the Uelzen-Lüneburg-Hamburg and Bremen-Buchholz-Hamburg routes. They warned of substantial delays on both routes. It's predicted that these constraints will persist until mid-afternoon or early evening. Initially, Metronom claimed that regional trains couldn't reach Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, but that issue was sorted out by Tuesday afternoon.
Despite the technical issues, DB and Metronom assure passengers with disabilities that assistance services are still available and operational. The intricate systems of trains and transportation in Hamburg are currently facing significant delays due to the glitch, affecting various routes and connections.
