Raid against "Reichsbürger" in Schleswig-Holstein
In connection with investigations against "Reichsbürger", there are investigations at two locations in Schleswig-Holstein. According to dpa information, these are properties in the district of Segeberg and in the town of Heide in the district of Dithmarschen.
The raids were carried out in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Hamburg and Lower Saxony under the direction of the Munich Public Prosecutor General's Office. The suspects are accused of forming a criminal organization.
"Reich citizens" are people who do not recognize the Federal Republic of Germany and its democratic structures. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution estimated that around 23,000 people across Germany were part of the "Reichsbürger" and "Selbstverwalter" scene in 2022, 2,000 more than in the previous year.
The investigations against the "Reichsbürger" movement in Schleswig-Holstein have unearthed potential links to extremist views, as certain suspects are suspected of promoting such ideologies. The local police force is closely monitoring this situation to prevent any potential extremist-related crimes.
