Far-right escapades - Racist Slogans Surface at Hamburg's Schlagermove Event
During a festival in Hamburg known as Schlagermove, people were heard shouting racist slogans as a song by Gigi D'Agostino, "L'Amour Toujours," played from one of the party trucks. According to a police statement released on Monday, there was a large group of partygoers near the truck who screamed racist words while displaying the Nazi salute. The higher authorities are now investigating this case under the State Criminal Office for State Protection Crimes. They are asking for help from anyone who might have videos or audio recordings of the incident.
The festival's organizer admitted to playing the controversial song but claims it was only for a brief period. One of their employees observed the DJ's playlist, indicating that D'Agostino's "L'Amour Toujours" was played for only 28 seconds. The organizer reserves the right to take legal action for this incident, stating that the behavior of the people on the truck goes against Schlagermove's core values - openness and tolerance.
Another recent racist incident took place during Easter at an upscale establishment on Sylt. A short video shared on social media showed a group of individuals screaming "Auslaender raus" (Foreigners out) and "Deutschland den Deutschen" (Germany for the Germans) while singing Gigi D'Agostino's music. This caused a massive uproar across the nation. The State Protection Office is looking into this case as well. In fact, there have been multiple incidents in the past where far-right slogans were chanted during the same song.
