Discrimination based on race - Racist chants echo at a shooting event, prompting calls for an inclusivity discussion.

After racial taunts were heard during a gun fair in Lower Saxony, the club's administration is looking into potentially removing the responsible members. On Monday, the extended board of the shooting club Bunnen will convene to determine the repercussions of the incident, stated club president Gregor Meyer to the German Press Agency. A possible expulsion of the members involved in the chants is being debated. Beforehand, the NDR had reported on the issue.

According to the bylaws, expulsion of members is permitted for inappropriate conduct, mentioned Meyer. "Our bylaws state this." However, the decision must be made by the entire board, not just the chairman. Therefore, he will not jump ahead of the decision. "If that is the verdict of the board, then we will proceed accordingly."

Recent videos showed that, during a five-day shooting festival in Löningen west of Cloppenburg on Pentecost Monday, racist slogans were sung to the track "L'amour toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino. The state security is currently investigating.

Upon learning about the incident in Löningen, the shooting club Bunnen swiftly distanced itself from the racist chants. However, the controversy has now spread beyond the immediate situation, and the club's image has taken a hit. "This has grown to such proportions that the club is being placed in a light it doesn't belong in," said Meyer. "The demand for action is overwhelming. People are clamouring for a decision."

It's undeniable that the chants occurred, and some members of the club were clearly visible on the captured footage. "I've spoken with a few of them, and some have even apologized," said Meyer. "But it wasn't an entire tent shouting right-wing slogans." The administration only learned of the occurrence after the fact. "We were taken aback."
