Racist and anti-Semitic incidents: stadium bans
Bundesliga soccer club VfB Stuttgart has banned two spectators from the stadium for racist and anti-Semitic insults. The club announced on Wednesday that the individuals in question had become conspicuous at the home match against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim at the end of October. At the match against Borussia Dortmund last Saturday, their personal details were then established, the two spectators were banned from the stadium and criminal charges were brought.
"Both our security service and our colleagues from the fan support and stadium security departments are required to consistently ensure that racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination have no place in our stadium," said VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle. "Especially in the current situation, in which minorities and Jews in particular are increasingly exposed to public hatred and agitation, we will not show any false tolerance here." Wehrle also thanked the witnesses who had reported the incidents.
According to VfB, three other spectators are currently banned from the stadium for similar incidents at previous matches and are on probation.
The racist and anti-Semitic behavior of two spectators at a VfB Stuttgart soccer match led to their permanent ban from the Bundesliga stadium. Such incidents are strictly forbidden by the club, as stated by CEO Alexander Wehrle, who emphasized the importance of combating racism and discrimination in the current social climate.
