Pupils spray pepper spray at school: 18 injured
18 people were injured at a school in Mosbach (Neckar-Odenwald district) because two teenagers sprayed pepper spray. A 58-year-old teacher was treated in hospital, according to the police. Four other teachers and 13 pupils were able to continue their lessons after being treated by emergency services.
According to the information, two 17-year-olds had sprayed the pepper spray against a wall in a corridor. The reason was initially unknown. When the door of a workshop leading off the corridor was opened from the inside and pupils and teachers went out, they were injured by the irritant.
The two young people are facing charges. It is being investigated whether they can be charged for the costs of the rescue operation.
This incident at the school quickly became an emergency situation, requiring the intervention of emergency services. Considering the use of pepper spray in a school environment can be considered as a form of crime, further investigations into this incident are necessary.
