Pupils beaten: verdict against Glauchau mayor final
The verdict against the mayor of Glauchau, Marcus Steinhart (CDU), following an attack on one of his son's schoolmates is final. No appeals have been lodged, a spokeswoman for the Hohenstein-Ernstthal district court said on Friday in response to an inquiry.
In the proceedings, the CDU politician had admitted to slapping a 13-year-old boy at the end of August 2022 at a school in Waldenburg (Zwickau district). The 47-year-old apologized for this. The CDU man had explained that two classmates had tormented his son for months with "almost unimaginable insults and humiliation". He had acted as a horrified father who wanted to protect his son.
Last week, the district court sentenced the mayor to a fine of 10,500 euros for intentional bodily harm and threats. With the sentence of 70 daily rates of 150 euros each, Steinhart is still not considered to have a criminal record.
The final judgments regarding Marcus Steinhart's actions against his son's schoolmate, resulting from the incident of intentional bodily harm and threats, have been made in the municipalities' court. These incidents, solely fueled by the overwhelming crime of relentless bullying, were reportedly instigated by two classmates.
