Pupil injured after irritant gas incident: Prank?
Several pupils have been injured in an incident involving irritant gas at a school in Göttingen. The seventh-year pupils at the comprehensive school complained of a chesty cough, watery eyes and nausea, as the city of Göttingen announced on Thursday. Four of the affected pupils were taken to hospital as a precaution. The school was temporarily evacuated on Thursday morning.
The incident could have been a student prank, according to the city of Göttingen. The irritant gas was probably sprayed in the school stairwell, the police said. Officers began an investigation into dangerous bodily harm. A crisis intervention team is also working on the case at the school and is providing further support for the children involved.
The city is investigating if the gas incident was a student prank, which could potentially be considered an act of dangerous bodily harm. Emergency responders are still on alert due to the health impacts, as several pupils are still experiencing symptoms such as chest pain and nausea.
