Punishment trial for embezzlement with luxury watches in Baden-Baden

The public prosecutor accused the 42-year-old defendant of selling numerous luxury watches in ten individual cases between July 2019 and March 2021 without delivering the goods. The prosecution assumed that the man had earned at least 400,000 Euro.

According to court records, the defendant was also sentenced to pay nearly 38,000 Euro in damages to the so-called accessory plaintiff. An accessory proceeding allows a victim of a crime to pursue a civil damages claim in the criminal proceedings, provided that they have not already done so elsewhere.

The defendant's luxury watch business brought him to the District Court in Baden-Baden, where he faced charges of fraudulently selling high-end timepieces. The penalty for his freedom was a lengthy prison term and a substantial Fine, as dictated by the Judge's Chairperson. Despite the public outcry and the involvement of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant continued to use luxury watches during his trials, which only added to his mounting legal woes.
