- Puchacz moves from Union to Kiel
Polish national team player Tymoteusz Puchacz is switching within the Bundesliga from 1. FC Union Berlin to newly-promoted Holstein Kiel. The 25-year-old left-back joined the Iron Ones from Lech Poznań three years ago but never managed to secure a regular starting spot. Competition on the left flank was too strong, especially with Robin Gosens and Jérôme Roussillon.
Puchacz was initially loaned out by Union to Trabzonspor, where he won the Turkish league in 2022. After six months at Panathinaikos Athens, he was loaned to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. With the Palatinate second-division side, he reached the DFB-Pokal final but lost 0-1 to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of May.
Puchacz was in the Polish squad for this summer's Euros but did not play. He played ten games for Union Berlin, five of which were in the Conference League.
Following his tenure at Union Berlin, where he played ten games including Conference League matches, Tymoteusz Puchacz is now set to participate in a different Football league, having signed for newly-promoted Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga. Despite his contributions to Union Berlin, the intense competition on the left flank, particularly with players like Robin Gosens and Jérôme Roussillon, prevented him from securing a regular starting spot.
