Storm - Public viewing in Gelsenkirchen ended due to thunderstorm

In Gelsenkirchen, the Public Viewing for the UEFA European Football Championship in the Fan Zone and the Amphitheater was cancelled. A thunderfront passed over the event areas around 9 pm, according to the city of Gelsenkirchen. Wind gusts of force 9 were measured. Fences were damaged, posters were flying through the air.

Considering an official weather warning, the event was then terminated. The spectators had calmly left the area, initial reports indicate that no one was injured. The organizers are now checking if the Public-Viewing facilities suffered any damage.
