In the run-up to the forthcoming European Football Championship, a giant screen for live coverage of the matches will be set up on floating pontoons in front of the fan mile in the Main.

The festivities kick off: Come Friday, Frankfurt Mainufer will play host to a month-long celebration for the Men's Football European Championship.

The afternoon (13:00 hours) marks the opening of the Fanzone gates, welcoming around 30,000 visitors. Expect ten giant canvases and a floating "Big Screen" for your viewing pleasure. In the evening, at 21:00 hours, the opening match of Germany against Scotland will commence in Munich. However, the weather doesn't seem to want to cooperate: Temperatures range from a daytime high of 19 to 21 degrees and a nightly low of 9 to 14 degrees until Saturday.

The Fanzone will broadcast all 51 games of the EM. With five days in Frankfurt, there's anticipation for a surge of international visitors. Large fan groups, including those from England and Switzerland, are expected. On days without matches, concerts, comedy shows, and a floating soccer field on the Main are planned at the Fanzone. Admission is free. Authorities declared it a weapons-free zone on Thursday. Cannabis consumption is also prohibited.

The previous Wednesday evening witnessed an opening show. The eastern side of the Floßerbrücke was adorned in the colors of the 24 participating nations. A 25-minute spectacle was staged with sounds from EM history and musical intermissions. The iconic football anthem, "You'll Never Walk Alone," made its appearance too.
