Voting process - Protests for democracy take place in Stuttgart and Heidelberg.
In Stuttgart, a diverse group of organizations is organizing a rally under the banner "Halt auf Rechts-Extremismus - Verteidigt Demokratie" this Saturday (12:00 pm). Their goal is to send a clear message of support for democracy and oppose the rising influence of right-wing extremist beliefs, as the DGB Baden-Württemberg shared. The state chair, Kai Burmeister, remarked, "Democracy needs active proponents."
It's estimated that about 10,000 individuals will participate. The DGB, IG Metall Region Stuttgart, the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, the Evangelical Church, Parity Baden-Württemberg, the Forum of Cultures, IG CSD Stuttgart, BUND Baden-Württemberg, Pulse of Europe, and Die Anstifter are among those who have issued the call to join this major gathering.
A similar event is being staged in Heidelberg by Fridays for Future Heidelberg and the alliance "No Step to the Right" on Saturday (3:30 pm). With approximately 5,000 attendees, this demonstration is focused on "Protest for climate justice and democracy with the call to vote in the European and municipal elections."
