Nearly 3,500 protesters gathered in the heart of Dortmund over the weekend, vocalizing their stance with the banner, "Vibrant over Brown." They held up signs that read, "Teach history" and "Enough! No power to the AfD!" Speakers at the rally were Dortmund's Mayor, Thomas Westphal from the Social Democratic Party (SPD), as well as former footballer Neven Subotic, a native of Banja Luka in what was once Yugoslavia, born in 1988.

The event was organised by a Dortmund-based association against right-wing extremism, with the goal of sending a strong message against the AfD and other right-wing extremists prior to the forthcoming European elections. The group encouraged everyone to make use of their voting right on June 9th. Their message: "Vote for what matters to you, but cast your ballot for a democratically-minded party. Let's rise up and defend democracy at the ballot box!"
