Frankfurt's Regional Court. - Prostitute murdered: Maximum punishment sought
A 46-year-old man from Turkish-Kurdish origins was asked by the prosecution to receive life imprisonment for his part in the murder of a prostitute during a trial on Tuesday. The case was heard at the Frankfurt District Court, where the prosecutor claimed that the low motives of the man made the crime more severe. She sought to ensure that the man could not be released before the end of 15 years by proclaiming the special severity of guilt.
The prostitute, aged 27, was a victim of the man's obsession. They had encountered each other in a sex club a few weeks prior to her murder. The prosecutor contended that the woman had declined to end her career as a prostitute due to her affection for the man. This drove him to commit the crime due to his need to control, possessiveness, and jealousy. In October 2022, he stabbed the woman multiple times, then strangled her in his Offenbach home.
The defendant had previously exhibited similar behavior by tossing a woman from the second floor of a building in 2005, which resulted in critical injuries. His culpability was ruled as insufficient at the time, and he was released from the psychiatric hospital after three years.
The defense argued that the current incident was nothing more than murder with the intent to kill, but they did not mention a preferred sentence. The jury is expected to reach a final decision on Friday.
The woman's corpse was left concealed in the man's apartment for over seven months before it was discovered by the police. He eventually disclosed the location in May of the preceding year. The body was covered in plastic, and it had been hidden behind a wooden panel.
The man went to Paris following the crime but was apprehended in March and transported back to Germany.
