Prosecutor: Paris attacker pledged allegiance to jihadist militia IS in video
The perpetrator's mother had also informed the authorities in October that she was worried about her son's condition, as he was becoming very withdrawn. "However, there were no grounds for criminal prosecution," said public prosecutor Jean-François Ricard.
The perpetrator, who was born in France, came from a non-religious Iranian family. He had converted and turned to jihadist ideology, the prosecutor explained. He had already been imprisoned for four years for preparing an attack and had massive psychological problems.
