Knife attack - Prosecutor demands prison sentences for young men
In the trial for a life-threatening knife attack at Frankfurt's Konstablerwache S-Bahn station, the public prosecutor has demanded prison sentences for the two defendants. On Friday, however, the prosecutor did not assume that the crime in January of this year was a homicide, as originally assumed, but rather dangerous bodily harm. He demanded two years and nine months in prison for the alleged stabber and two years and three months for the co-defendant. The verdict is to be announced next Wednesday (13.12.).
According to the indictment, the 20 and 21-year-old men had initially spat at and verbally abused passengers in a subway train. After they had left the train, they were confronted by the later victim (35). In the course of the altercation, the now 21-year-old is said to have suddenly pulled out a knife on a staircase and stabbed his opponent in the upper abdomen. According to the public prosecutor's office, however, there are doubts as to whether there was intent to kill - moreover, the man could also have withdrawn from an attempt to kill in time. The defense attorneys requested lenient sentences.
