Project aims to promote the voluntary return of refugees
The state of Schleswig-Holstein is receiving funding from the European Union for a project on the voluntary return of refugees to their home country. 90 percent of the costs of 1.3 million euros come from an EU fund, with the state contributing ten percent, as announced by the State Office for Immigration and Refugees (LaZUF) on Thursday. The "Integrated Return Counseling and Reintegration in LaZuF" project also includes counseling on qualification and reintegration in the country of origin.
Integration Minister Aminata Touré (Greens) emphasized that the project also combats the causes of flight by creating prospects to stay in the countries of origin. "People return well prepared and can reintegrate." The project is set to run until the end of August 2026.
The project not only focuses on the voluntary return of refugees but also provides social affairs support, offering counseling on qualification and reintegration in their home countries. This initiative, aimed at combating the causes of flight, ensures that returning refugees are well-prepared and can smoothly reintegrate into their home societies.
