Health - Project aims to inspire enthusiasm for the rural medical profession in Western Pomerania
The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald wants to promote the profession of country doctor and thus strengthen healthcare in rural areas. To this end, the "Landpartie Medizin - Landarzt erleben" (Rural Medicine - Experience a Rural Doctor) is being launched today in Pasewalk. The project is aimed at potential rural doctors, i.e. medical students or GPs and specialists. The aim is to get students excited about both the profession of rural doctor and the region.
Due to the looming shortage of doctors in rural areas, the so-called rural doctor quota has already been introduced in MV. At the universities in Rostock and Greifswald, there are a total of around 30 places each year for prospective doctors who want to work in rural areas of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for at least ten years after completing their studies.
