Malte Drescher has been elected as the future president of the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). The 48-year-old Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Konstanz will take over the position at the beginning of October 2024 from Professor Arnd Poetzsch-Heffter and Professor Gabriele E. Schaumann, who have been in office together since January 2023, the university announced on Wednesday. The vote for Drescher was unanimous in the RPTU Senate. One of his most important tasks will be to shape the further development of the university's profile and further consolidate the locations in Southern and Western Palatinate.
