Movie - Producers anticipate poor economic situation in 2024

Many film and television producers consider the future economic situation of the German production industry to be poor. This was the result of a recent survey among members of the Producers Alliance, which was published on Monday. The Alliance represents the interests of hundreds of production companies in Germany. According to the fall survey, more than half of respondents rate the economic situation for 2024 as poor or very poor.

Only around two percent expect the situation in the industry to be good or very good, with 45 percent answering "partly, partly". The figures for 2023 are somewhat more optimistic: 13% consider the economic situation to be good, while 45% consider it to be poor.

With regard to the development of the order situation, most of the production companies surveyed expect problems such as rising production costs (95%) and slow processes at clients (89%). Just under three quarters also see a declining order situation as a likely problem. According to the Producers' Alliance, 138 out of 329 companies took part in the survey between October and November.
