City authorities make decisions. - Probe into possible corruption in Memmingen area
As a result of alleged corruption, investigators are probing a number of municipal workers in Memmingen and personnel from a business in Baden-Württemberg. The prosecutor's office and criminal police made these revelations on Wednesday, claiming that the local professionals may have collected bribes and favored the firm from the Zollernalbkreis in granting municipal deals. This situation involves potential bribery charges.
Investigations had been in progress for over a year. Back in 2021, the company sponsored an event for city workers. Then last year, the municipal staffers were said to have gotten cheaper passes to another event, allegedly totaling a few hundred euros.
On Wednesday, police searched the company due to the accusations. Simultaneously, the criminal police looked into the city administration. A rep for the municipal office stated they're collaborating closely with the inspectors. "We're quite keen on figuring out what happened here," she remarked. Precise details on which municipal deals were implicated were initially kept private.
