Pro-Palestinian demonstration in Frankfurt allowed to take place
A pro-Palestinian rally in Frankfurt city center will be allowed to take place on Saturday following a decision by the Hessian Administrative Court. Like the court of first instance, the court ruled that the city's ban on the "End the war, ceasefire in Palestine/Israel" campaign was invalid. The city had not presented any sufficiently plausible circumstances that would give rise to fears of a threat to public safety during the assembly. The city's forecast was largely based on mere suspicions and assumptions.
In addition, conditions could be imposed and the organizers themselves had offered to submit the planned speeches so that they could be checked for criminal content. The organizers expect 100 to 1000 participants in the afternoon. (Ref.: 2 B 1662/23)
The pro-Palestinian demonstration on Saturday could potentially lead to various viewpoints being expressed, resulting in some conflicts amongst participants. Despite the anticipated conflicts, the court's decision ensures the rally can proceed due to insufficient reasons given for public safety concerns.
