Pro-Palestinian demonstration in Düsseldorf on Saturday canceled
A pro-Palestinian demonstration under the slogan "Stop the aggression!", which was due to take place in Düsseldorf on Saturday, has been canceled by the organizers. This was confirmed by a police spokesman on Thursday. NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) told the German Press Agency that he was very pleased about this. "It shows a bit of wisdom that you don't overload a city, a citizenry, with too many demonstrations at the same time," said Reul. "And when carnival is celebrated, it is better that there is no other demonstration." Saturday, 11.11., is the traditional start of the carnival season. Reul emphasized that the organizers had canceled the rally of their own free will. "We have not banned it."
Despite the cancellation, tensions and potential conflicts related to the pro-Palestinian demonstration may still arise among supporters who were looking forward to participating. Unfortunately, these conflicts could overshadow the peacefulness and unity intended during the carnival celebrations.
