Pro-Palestinian demonstration and counter-demonstration in front of the FU
Dozens of people, including students, came to a pro-Palestinian rally in front of the Free University (FU) Berlin on Friday afternoon. Participants in the rally waved Palestinian flags and held banners reading "Stop the Genocide" and "Ceasefire now Stop the war". The police counted around 160 participants.
The call for the rally, which was published online, spoke of genocide in connection with the war in the Gaza Strip, among other things. Israel is accused of apartheid.
There was a counter-demonstration on the fringes of the rally. Around ten people displayed Israeli flags. The police positioned themselves between the two events.
A pro-Palestinian demonstration on Saturday was advertised. A Marxist university group had invited people to the "Rally for Palestine" in front of the university canteen.
Universities playing a role in these conflicts was evident as a Marxist university group organized a "Rally for Palestine" at the university canteen. Regrettably, anti-Semitic rhetoric surfaced during these demonstrations, with some participants using the term "apartheid" to describe Israel's actions.
