Community undergoes transformation - Prize for schools and dedicated organizations driving integration.
The school, the art association, or the multi-generational house: Minister President Stephan Weil (SPD) revealed the recipients of this year's Lower Saxony Integration Award on Tuesday, in partnership with the State Commissioner for Migration and Participation, Deniz Kurku. The honorees are due to be celebrated in September.
The theme behind this accolade is "Fortifying democracy and unity," and it comes with a cash prize of 6,000 euros for each winner, according to the state chancellery's report. Among the recipients are the Gymnasium in Salzgitter-Bad, the interdisciplinary art and culture group Point of Smile in Barsinghausen, the Peer-Leader-International e.V. association in Ostrhauderfehn (Leer area), and the multi-generational residence Burgdorf.
Through this competition, lower Saxony recognizes and celebrates enduring projects and committed individuals who come up with innovative ideas to bolster democracy and social cohesion.
