Celebrity in prison - Princess Gloria and Gruber visit Schuhbeck in custody
Gloria von Thurn und Taxis stated in her own words that she visited inmate Alfons Schuhbeck together with cabaret artist Monika Gruber. "I asked Monika Gruber if we wanted to visit him. We then did," von Thurn und Taxis told the Mediengruppe Bayern (Saturday). "We went to the prison and spoke with him there."
The two women were convinced that Schuhbeck was in good health: "He's doing well, he looks good, and he's also being well-treated." According to von Thurn und Taxis, she learned that Schuhbeck could work as a cook during his prison sentence. "He'll be able to work in the morning as part of his rehabilitation measures and will cook again," von Thurn und Taxis said.
She herself believes that one should also hold on to people who are not doing well. "People only come to see them when they're on top. But I'm particularly interested in people when they're struggling and falling."
Last year, the 75-year-old began serving his prison sentence for tax evasion. The Munich I Regional Court sentenced Schuhbeck to three years and two months in prison. The court was convinced that the prominent chef had evaded 2.3 million euros in taxes and had taken more than 1,000 instances of money from the cash register of two of his restaurants to disappear. Initially, Schuhbeck was detained in the Justice Remand Centre Landsberg am Lech and is now in an external facility of the JVA in the Andechser district of Rothenfeld.
In June, it was reported that the Munich I Prosecutor's Office was investigating Schuhbeck again. The allegations concern insolvency fraud and fraud in connection with Corona aid.
