Prince William wins the dragon boat race

"Natural talent" Prince William has led his team to victory in a dragon boat race in Singapore. The 41-year-old did not miss a single stroke, praised team captain Chris Bosher. Wearing a white polo shirt under his life jacket and a black cap, the heir to the British throne stood out from the otherwise red-clad "British Dragons" team of 22 rowers. "I love sport," said William, praising the drummer on the bow in particular. "The drum was very good, a very good rhythm."

William raced with a mixed crew of 14 nationalities. "It's great to see the power of sport to bring communities together," read a short clip of the race on Kensington Palace's official X account. "Rowers from Singapore, the UK and across the Commonwealth experience the amazing camaraderie of their Dragon Boat team."

Captain Bosher told British news agency PA afterwards, "He was outstanding, he said 'really guys, I want us to win'." Dragon boat racing is a popular sport in Singapore, with many foreigners living in the Southeast Asian city-state taking part. It was not the first race of this kind for William. In 2011, he came out on top in a duel against his wife Princess Kate in Canada.

The eldest son of King Charles III landed in Singapore on Sunday to great acclaim, where he intends to select the winners of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental award he founded, on Tuesday.
