- Prime Minister Schweitzer is heading to the crash site.

Rhineland-Palatinate's Minister-President Alexander Schweitzer (SPD) travels to the scene of the disaster in Kröv on the Mosel. "My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and the injured who have been rescued so far," Schweitzer said. "We are anxious for the people who are still trapped under the rubble of the collapsed hotel in Kröv on the Mosel."

More than 250 emergency services personnel have been working tirelessly since last night to rescue those trapped. "This challenging major operation is also dangerous for the rescue workers. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to them," says Schweitzer.

Together with Minister of the Interior Michael Ebling (also SPD), Schweitzer will make a statement around 13:30 in Kröv, after assessing the situation.

At around 23:00 last night, a floor collapsed in the hotel in the Verbandsgemeinde Traben-Trarbach. There were 14 people in the building at the time. 9 people were trapped - 5 of whom have since been rescued.

One man and one woman lost their lives. The man's body has not yet been recovered. There are also two severely injured people still trapped in the rubble.

The Minister-President also thanked the efforts of the over 250 emergency personnel, acknowledging that their operation is challenging and dangerous. Despite the progress made in rescuing some individuals, there are still others, including two severely injured individuals, trapped within the 'Other' remnants of the collapsed hotel.
