This announcement came after a meeting with the cabinet at the Hessentag in Fritzlar, a small town in the northern part of the state. Rhein, a member of the Christian Democrats, continued, "Promoting sports – from elite to grassroots – is a huge priority for our Christian-Social Coalition. Sports play a crucial role in fostering competitiveness, a positive attitude, health, community, identity, and integration. Linsenhoff's appointment will only boost this effort."

The statement quoted Linsenhoff as saying, "I'm honored to be able to contribute my experience from 32 years of competitive sports moving forward." Hessian Sports Minister Diana Stolz (CDU) acknowledged that Linsenhoff would no doubt "infuse the spirit of sports into the Hessian landscape." Stolz added, "Sports come in many forms, whether at the professional or grassroots level. They're a place where people connect, stay healthy, and inspire us."
